In a beautiful reflection of community spirit, compassion, and collective effort, the Khudabadi Amil Panchayat of Bombay (KAP), along with the Young Amil Circle (YAC), successfully conducted its annual Clothes Donation Drive from 15th February to 9th May 2026. What began as a simple initiative to give back to society soon transformed into one of the Panchayat's most successful humanitarian efforts in recent years, with an incredible 1,017 kilograms of clothes collected - the highest collection recorded in the last decade.
The drive was passionately led by convenor of Relief activities - Mr. GhanshyamWadhwani, whose dedication and relentless efforts became the driving force behind the initiative. He was ably supported by the YAC leadership team and volunteers, who worked across awareness campaigns, outreach efforts, promotional activities, collection drives, and logistical coordination to ensure the campaign's success.
A significant part of the initiative's impact came from the awareness created across the community. Through dedicated announcements, promotional campaigns, and volunteer engagement, the drive reached individuals and families across Mumbai, encouraging generous participation and reinforcing the spirit of giving.
To further expand its reach, KAP collaborated with the United Sindhi Cultural Association (USCA), whose support amplified collections, particularly across South Mumbai. The Panchayat also reached out to Sindhi educational institutions under the HSNC Board, including R.D. National College and HR College of Commerce and Economics, encouraging students and young individuals to participate actively. This outreach extended the initiative beyond the Panchayat's immediate network and inspired involvement from the younger generation.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the initiative was its continued collaboration with the Sindhi Youth Circle, Ulhasnagar. Every year, KAP partners with the organisation to ensure that donated clothes reach those who truly need them. Through their thoughtful initiative, the "Wall of Happiness," clothes are carefully segregated for men, women, and children and displayed in a dignified manner, allowing individuals and families to freely choose what they need. More than just distribution, the initiative preserves a sense of respect, choice, and dignity for every person it serves.
The final donation and distribution drive was held on 11th May at Ulhasnagar, where members of KAP, YAC, volunteers, and community supporters including the YAC Co-Convenor MS. Rashmi Mirchandani came together to witness the culmination of months of effort and generosity. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, gratitude, and a shared sense of purpose as the community united to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Crossing the milestone of 1,017 kilograms was not merely a numerical achievement; it was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together with empathy and intention. From an idea conceived in February to breaking a decade-long record, the drive showcased the extraordinary impact of collaboration and the unwavering generosity of the larger Sindhi community.
The Khudabadi Amil Panchayat of Bombay extends its heartfelt gratitude to every donor, volunteer, institution, and organisation that contributed to the success of the drive. Encouraged by this overwhelming response, the Panchayat now looks ahead with renewed enthusiasm and hopes to make the 2027 edition even bigger, stronger, and more impactful through wider collaborations and continued community support.
