Mumbai, 1st March 2025 – The world premiere of The Sindh Story, a groundbreaking film by Anand Manwani, was successfully hosted by the Khudabadi Amil Panchayat (KAP) and the Young Amil Circle (YAC) at the iconic Regal Cinema in Colaba. This event was more than just a film screening; it was a monumental cultural movement, a tribute to Sindhi heritage, and a powerful statement on women empowerment.
While many came together to make this event a reality, two forces KAP and YAC stood at the very heart of it all. KAP brought wisdom, stature, and leadership, while YAC brought relentless energy, creativity, and execution power. Together, they formed the perfect partnership. But it was YAC that truly drove the engine. The backbone, the soul, and the beating heart of the event, YAC did not merely assist; they owned it, shaped it, and elevated it. Every single aspect, from meticulous planning to flawless execution, from logistics to audience engagement, and from coordination with dignitaries to delivering an unforgettable guest experience, was led by YAC with unmatched dedication and passion.
A week before the premiere, the YAC committee led by Convenor Devesh Makhijani, President Sidharth Makhijani, Vice-President Raahuul Advani, General Secretary Mihir Mirchandani, Joint Secretary Garv Jhangiani, Treasurer Leisha Mansukhani, and Office Administrator Namrata Advani began their mission. Their tireless efforts, strategic thinking, and relentless drive transformed a bold vision into an extraordinary reality.
On the KAP side, Ramesh Mansukhani, who serves as Secretary, worked closely with Laveena Shahani, Event Subcommittee Lead and Event Coordinator, and Pradeep Gidwani, a member of the Managing Committee and the Event Subcommittee. Together with the YAC team, they ensured that every detail aligned with the event’s purpose of uplifting women and preserving the Sindhi language.
Recognizing the importance of bringing Sindhi youth into the cultural conversation, YAC and KAP proactively reached out to colleges under the HSNC Board, including KC College, Jai Hind College, HR College, and RD National College. This effort ensured that young students actively participated in and witnessed the historic revival of Sindhi cinema.
Dr. Neha Jagtiani, Principal of RD National College, emerged as one of the strongest allies in this movement. Her wholehearted support included launching the film’s trailer at RD’s annual Sindhi cultural fest ‘Jashn’ and mobilizing student volunteers for premiere day. She also attended the event, watching the film alongside YAC members and standing proudly with the cause.
As the event unfolded, it became clear that this was not just a film premiere. It was a landmark celebration made extraordinary by the seamless collaboration between KAP and YAC. Their attention to detail, calm handling of last-minute challenges, and shared commitment turned a simple screening into an unforgettable evening of pride, culture, and inspiration.
Adding a magical element to the evening was Umesh Pherwani, whose dynamic hosting and mesmerizing mentalism acts left the audience in awe. As a surprise gesture, Deepak and Anita Gidwani unveiled a custom cake featuring the film’s banner, marking a moment of joy that reflected the love and dedication behind the event.
The premiere was further elevated by the presence of the film’s distinguished cast and crew. Sona Manwani, the producer, played a crucial role in ensuring the film remained true to its vision of celebrating Sindhi culture and empowering women. Writer Anand Manwani crafted a poignant and authentic narrative that resonated deeply with the audience. Director Tariq Bhat brought this vision to life with cinematic brilliance and evocative storytelling.
The cast, including Chanda Virani, Priit Khatri, and Rakesh Karra, delivered unforgettable performances that added emotional depth to the film. Their dedication and artistry made The Sindh Story not just a film but a cultural milestone.
With more than 800 attendees, the film was met with a thunderous standing ovation, underscoring its emotional impact, cultural relevance, and cinematic excellence. Yet beyond the film itself, the evening belonged to YAC and KAP, who emerged as the true champions of the movement.
This was more than an event. It was a testament to resilience, leadership, and the strength of community. At the center of it all stood the Young Amil Circle, a team defined by vision, drive, and flawless execution, fully backed and uplifted by the steadfast support of KAP.
One truth stands above all that without YAC and KAP, this premiere would not have been possible. YAC did not simply participate; they led with passion, creativity, and excellence. KAP stood firm as the pillar of support, offering guidance, structure, and invaluable resources.
With the resounding success of The Sindh Story, YAC and KAP have set a new benchmark for community-driven cultural events. Their combined spirit serves as a beacon of inspiration, ensuring that Sindhi heritage remains vibrant and relevant for generations to come.
