The year 2023 has been phenomenal for the Young Amil Circle - from a fresh managing committee coming on board to the launch of several social engagement initiatives. Here’s looking back at the year that was.

Kickstarting the year by co-organising the Annual General Meeting (AGM) with KAP at Sun-N-Sand Hotel, YAC went on to have an Ice-Breaker Session at Radio Club in January 2023. It was a memorable evening filled with fun, building connaissance and brainstorming for the events to be undertaken in the year. This was followed by a strategic meet-up at Tea Villa Cafe, Bandra in February, which paved the way for all the undertakings done by YAC in 2023.

The first event on the cards for YAC was organising the Diler Sindhi Global Beauty Pageant in March 2023. It was preceded by a meet at NSCI to discuss the arrangements for the event along with some games and snacks. On the day of the event, the YAC team displayed great dedication and team spirit in handling all the on-ground coordination tasks for which they were well appreciated.

After this cultural extravaganza, YAC took upon themselves to organise an initiative that found its roots in eco-consciousness. In May 2023, by collaborating with the NGO Change is Us, YAC put up a Beach CleanUp Drive. Herein, the participants from both the organising committees were able to collect 600kgs+ of trash, thereby avoiding its entrance into the sea at Girgaon Chowpatty.

Post the success of this social initiative, YAC with KAP, co-organised a Health Check-Up Camp along with the support of various NGOs that work for health & welfare. This camp set up at Navjivan Gurmandir in Mumbai Central was open to one and all. It experienced a footfall of more than 90 people who availed facilities of free eye, BP and sugar checkups.

Having organised momentous events, YAC soon launched its Campus Ambassador Program to fuel their membership drive. This program involved appointing Campus Ambassadors across Mumbai’s Sindhi Minority colleges who would further encourage their Amil peers to join YAC. To spread the word further across, YAC managing committee organised a meeting with the Principal, faculty and students of National College, Bandra. This meeting led to the vital decision of the college’s Principal, Mrs. Neha Jagtiani, being entrusted with the responsibility of co-convening YAC’s Global Networking sub-committee.

Speaking of Global Networking, YAC has also commenced revamping the Amil Sindhis website by uplifting its UI and UX while also automating numerous administrative processes. Simultaneously, YAC has been enhancing their social media presence across Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Coming to the month of October, YAC organised a Health Talk Show wherein Mr. Atul Shah from Ojas Life conveyed the importance of clean and balanced nutrition to everyone present in the audience. Ending the year with another social initiative, YAC commenced the Clothes’ Donation Drive to aid the underprivileged and to provide them warmth and comfort.

This tale of a series of successful events was brought to life due to the dedicated efforts of YAC Convenor Mr. Devesh Makhijani, President Mr. Rohit Thadhani, Vice-President Mr. Sidharth Makhijani, Hon. Secretary Mr. Raahuul Advani, Jt. Secretary Mr. Mihir Mirchandani and the entire YAC managing committee members. YAC would also like to acknowledge the support and guidance received from the respected KAP members.

Looking forward to a brighter 2024!
